Representatives of the Sarajevo Canton and the European Investment Bank (EIB) held discussions to analyze the result of previous loans made by the EIB, including several large completed infrastructure projects and potential new joint projects. The meeting discussed lending for the construction of the Ilidža – Hrasnica railway for which a €15m loan has been requested as well as €5m for the reconstruction of the city’s trolleybus network.
The city will request an additional €5m for the purchase of trolleybuses, which would be added to an outstanding €20m loan for trams. A meeting of the EIB Board is planned for July this year at which a decision on these future loans could be finalized.
