Slovakia opened its borders earlier this week, but the only way of getting there was by car, or on foot. That’s now changed as the Minister of Transportation Andrej Doležal announced that he was allowing international bus, train, air and boat connections to be renewed. “Specific bus and train connections will be added gradually,” he said. “I’m pleased that the situation is finally making all the forms of transport possible and I’m convinced that in the coming days that along with the opening of borders there will be transport to the other countries,” he said. The private firm RegioJet said it would renew train routes between the Czech Republic and Slovakia by June 7, while the state-owned Czech Railways is promising service by June 9. Another private carrier, Leo Express, said it would begin service between Prague and Košice a week later.
