Car manufacturing in the Czech Republic fell dramatically in April by over 31% to just 337,000 vehicles. Škoda Auto put out 218,000 cars which was almost 30% less than in April 2019 while Hyundai’s output fell 35.3% to 65,000 cars. TPCA released similar figures in that the 53,000 vehicles that completed in April was 31.5% less than 2018. “The dramatic decline in April’s production numbers of nearly 90% isn’t just bad news for the manufacturers of course, but for the entire supply chain,” said Bohdan Wojnar, president of the Automobile Industry Association (SAP). “Sales of new cars for April in the EU fell by 76% and in view of the close links in the supply chain across the whole of Europe and the strong dependence of the auto industry on a functioning internal market, the production regime was seriously disrupted on all levels.”
