Serbian factories to begin opening up on May 4

24 April 2020

In Serbia, work and life are slowly returning to normal. According to Chamber of Commerce data, about 125,000 workers have been forced to take time off. At this point 20,000 of them have since returned to work. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says that factories will be able to restart production beginning May 4. Some, like the Valjevo factory in Gorenje began production already last week. Tigar’s Tyers Pirot, which closed down on March 23, is preparing for a restart to production on May 4. One of the last measures to be lifted will be public transportation, but there’s been no word as of yet when lines will begin operating again.
