AHP hopes the new hygiene protocols will nevertheless bring tourists to Portugal

The president of the Portuguese Hospitality Association (AHP), Raul Martins said that most hotels could start reopening in July. According to him the hotel industry has been hit hard by the travel ban and that its survival would depend on opening borders and the renewal of international flights. Raul Martins revealed that AHP is working with Turismo de Portugal and the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) to create a special health guarantee seal and to establish set protocols in hotels to customers a greater sense of safety. Martins added that the July opening for hotels should be limited in bathing areas, on the country’s islands and at inland locations. Hotels located in Portugal’s main cities may have to wait until September to open.
