With 629,000 employed by small business in Serbia, representatives of these entrepreneurs are letting it be known that they deserve support from the national budget during the coronavirus crisis. Saving these companies would be in the interest of the entire country, they argue, as they’re also responsible for roughly one-third of the national GDP and employ 44 percent of the workforce. The bloc is pushing to be exempted from paying income tax, social contributions and taxes over the next three months. Companies in the tourism, transport and logistics sectors already know they need to survive what will be a disastrous month of March, but they’re even more afraid of the coming months.
