With increasing numbers of German office workers now being asked to work from home, the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt asked all of its works to work from home on Monday as a precautionary test. Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung writes that this included employees in highly sensitive areas such as market operations and payment transactions. The ECB’s headquarters in the Ostend district of Frankfurt wasn’t completely empty as meetings were held as necessary. The ECB claims that the bank’s network managed to handle the sudden increase in outside access from employee laptops without significant difficulties. Workers were due back in their usual offices as of Tuesday.
