Central Group to cut 30 meters off Prague 4 highrises to appease UNESCO

5 March 2020

Central Group has agreed to reduce the height of the apartment buildings planned for the second phase of Rezidence Park Kavčí Hory by 30 meters. The compromise follows sustained pressure on the city of Prague from UNESCO, which objected to the expansion of the zone in Prague 4 that allows for the construction of highrises. Having already agreed to reduce the buildings from 72 to 66 meters, Central Group’s director Ladislav Váňa wrote that it would cut even further to bring the buildings below the height of other buildings in the vicinity. The Czech daily Denik speculates whether this will satisfy UNESCO, as the developer has not agreed to reduce the size of buildings in its first phase. The project’s architect is Josef Pleskot
