Prague Stock Exchange hit hard by virus fears

28 February 2020

The Prague Stock Exchange fell 2.91 percent on Thursday, its biggest drop since 2016. It’s been a bad week for the bourse, which fell 2.81 percent on Monday as markets reacted to growing fears over the impact of the corunavirus on the global economy. These are huge fluctuations for a market that usually moves in intervals of just 10’s of basis points. In 2016, the Prague Stock Exchange fell a full 3 percent on the news that Great Britain had voted in favor of Brexit. Ironically, the biggest loser on Thursday was the anti-virus software company Avast.
