Sales by the Czech residential developer JRD rose 72 percent in 2019 to surpass CZK 1bn for the first time in the country’s 16-year history. The company sold a total of 166 flats, 64 land plots and six commercial spaces for a collecting CZK 1.038bn. The passive home specialist expects to sell more than 200 units in 2020 and is preparing to invest more than CZK 500m in land for upcoming projects. JRD’s sales director Pavel Krumpar said the residential market is complicated by constant legislative changes, the rigid permits process and a lack of capacity not only from contractors but from individual state institutions. “We chose the path of extensitve acquisitiion activities and intensive cooperation with suppliers and investors, which helped us achieve better results than we’d expected at the beginning of the year,” he said. JRD is currently building 8 passive energy projects with a total of 578 flats. Among the projects now underway are Rezidence Silver Port, Ecocity Malešice, Kratochvíle Stochovská and Na hvězdárně Třebešín. Krumpar said he expects to start work this year on an additional three projects.
