Redevelopment of the Žižkov cargo station complex has taken another step closer to getting underway after it approved the signing of a crucial memorandum concerning the main terminal building on the site. The protected cultural monument is to become the center of the new neighborhood where denik.cz writes that up to 15,000 could end up living there. Along with the city, the other groups that have to sign the memorandum are the National Film Architect, The Ministry of Culture, Czech Railways and the developer Sekyra Group, which owns most of the land on the site. Still to be solved is precisely where tram tracks will be located, and the memorandum states that land will be reserved to allow for the potential construction of a metro stop. Sekyra Group plans to build a combination of commercial space and rental flats on the site.
