Real estate deals in Romania top €1bn in 2019

27 January 2020

Romania’s real estate investment volume topped €1bn last year, according to estimates released by CBRE. The 2019 total, amounting to roughly €1.06bn, was a 7-percent increase from 2018 and a five-year high, with the office segment accounting for 75 percent of all deals. “Romania is an increasingly alluring destination for new investors, and 2020 will most likely bring, similarly to 2019, new names on the local market. There are several companies wanting to expand their portfolios in Romania, pursuing especially the acquisition of office buildings and industrial spaces. We expect further compression of yields, both for offices (currently at 7 percent) and for the industrial sector (7.75 percent),” said Gijs Klomp, head of investment properties at CBRE Romania.
