Prague airport breaks 17 million passenger record for 2019

16 December 2019

Last year, Prague’s international airport served 16.8 million passengers. This year, it’s already seen 17 million people pass through its halls but management is warning that the transport hub has nearly reached its technical capacity and that further growth can only come at the expense of passenger comfort. The busiest month of the year came in August, according to an airport press release, when 2 million passengers were served. The latest growth (6 percent for 2019) is the result of an increase in the number of direct flights, including long-haul routes and higher occupancy levels on existing routes. A total of CZK 16bn in investments are planned for Terminal 2, including a fourth row of check-in counters and reconstruction of the baggage sorting facility. Just as importantly, construction of a parallel runway could begin by 2025.
