Prague extending tram network on three fronts

25 October 2019

The City of Prague is hoping to start construction on an extension of the tram network from Modřan to Pisnice next year. This optimism is being driven by the belief that it will secure a construction permit by the end of the year once a land deal goes through in November. Trams currently stop in Modřany housing estate. The next phase of work will bring tram services all the way to Nové Dvory. Prague also expects to receive a construction permit in a matter of days for the extension of tram lines to Slivenec and it will submit documentation for permits to continue that line even further. In Prague 6’s district, plans are moving ahead to lengthen the tram network by 2.4 km from its current endpoing at Divoká Šarka to the Dědina housing estate. The work would create five new tram stops and cost around CZK 893m.
