Škoda sales down as new Turkish plant shelved

17 October 2019

Škoda Auto delivered 913,700 vehicles to customers worldwide in the first three quarters of 2019. In Eastern (+10.6%) and Western Europe (+6.8%) as well as in Russia (+7.0%), the carmaker increased its deliveries significantly. However, total deliveries are 2.7% down compared to the same period last year. The company is blaming the the continuing decline on the slowing Chinese car market. In the other international markets, ŠKODA has delivered 719,300 vehicles this year to date, which means that deliveries in these regions are up 4.4% on last year. September deliveries worldwide rose 7.5 percent to 102,000. But it’s being reported that the car manufacturer’s plans to build a new factory in Turkey have been put on hold as it gauges the impact of the country’s incursion in Syria.
