EBRD provides €72.25m for new Belgrade landfills

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has agreed to support the construction of new landfills and an energy production facility in Belgrade’s Vinca settlement with a €72.25m loan. The project will be developed by Beo Pure Energy, which was established by SUEZ, Itochu and the Marguerite Fund. The companies entered into a 25-year PPP with the city of Belgrade. The partnership includes the development of waste energy production plants, construction waste (CDV) plants, rehabilitation of an existing landfill and the construction of a new landfill. in accordance with EU rules. The plant will have the capacity to process about 510,000t of household waste, and about 200,000t per year of construction waste.
