A year ago, reports were coming out that Volkswagen was considering shifting production of Škoda Auto’s flagship mode, the Superb, to Germany. That idea has been put to rest, however, with the moves to build a new factory in Turkey instead where new Passats and Superbs are to be built. A final agreement between Volkswagen and Turkey is expected within the week. The company is reacting to a lack of skilled labor in the Czech Republic and Škoda Auto’s ambition to build 1.5 million cars per year. The other country in VW’s shortlist for the new factory was Bulgaria.
