MK Group is planning a major renewable energy investment program through its subsidiary MK Biogas. The group is planning to begin producing electricity through the burning of biomass at a plant whose construction gets underway in Vrbas in September. Completion is scheduled for February 2020 with investment costs expected to run to more than €8.1m. There are currently just 12 biogas plants in Serbia. Raw materials include the by-products of farms and slaughterhouses as well as sugar beets.
