Gyor adds 650 new homes to housing market in 2018

More than new 650 home were completed in Gyor last year. The city in northwestern Hungary was only outperformed by Budapest, which added a total of 1,732 new builds to its housing market in 2018, according to new data published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH). Balatonlelle, a popular tourist destination along Lake Balaton, followed, increasing its housing stock by 278 new homes last year. Housing prices averaged HUF 405,000 per sqm in Gyor and HUF 496,000 per sqm in Balatonlelle. In Budapest’s top districts, meanwhile, prices exceeded HUF 600,000 pe sqm on average, according to KSH. Approximately, 54 percent of the homes built last year were for investment purposes, the data shows.
