Friedrich-Schiller University has received a €84m contribution from the EU as part of a €4bn investment of infrastructure projects across ten EU members. The project will be put into two buildings, the data center and the faculty of math and sciences. The operations on the buildings will begin by 2023. The goal of the project is to provide the university with modern facilities needed for teaching and research activities for science majors. “These projects are examples of how the EU is working to improve everyday life for our citizens,” said Corina Creţu, European commissioner for regional policy. “In the current budget period, I have adopted 258 large infrastructure projects worth €32bn of EU funds, they are, in a way, the ambassadors of Cohesion Policy.”
