Prague 12 has begun groundworks for the construction of a new town hall building on Sofiejské náměstí. The new structure is expected to cost CZK 550m to complete, but should succeed in making the running of the district far more efficient. At the moment, according to the Czech News Agency, the city’s bureaucracy is carried out in seven separate buildings. At the time of the tender for the construction work, critics called the final for lack of transparancy. Prague 12 has borrowed CZK 250m to finance the work, a loan it will be paying back for 14 years beginning in 2023. A total of 56,000 people live in the district.
