19 March 2019

Škoda Auto is carrying out video mapping project tests at its plant in Mladá Boleslav to see if it can help improve efficiency in certain process. Staff will be able to look at laser projections that illustrate the correction position for a part to be placed on a pallet that’s being shipped somewhere. Text, images and videos can all be projected to better explain the proper movements and positions without the need for employees to wear 3D goggles. “Video mapping technology opens up totally new opportunities for us in Logistics,” said Michael Oeljeklaus, a Škoda Auto board member. “Our employees are supported by this Industry 4.0 technology when preparing for the dispatch of our component kits for certain export markets. In this way, augmented reality minimises the error rate when loading MKD kits onto large export pallets and additionally increases safety in the working environment.” The video mapping system consists of an ultra-high-resolution laser projector and an HD camera.
