Lidove noviny reports that a developer with alleged links to the ex-director of ČEZ Martin Roman is backing off from claims that it is the rightful owner of part of the City of Prague’s water infrastructure system. CWI Smichov approached the city last year claiming it was the owner of a little-known water pumping station built deep beneath a plot near the Smichov train station. The developer has plans to build a series of office buildings and apartments on the site, having bought the land from IDS Praha, a former subsidiary of the Prague Transport Company (DPP). There’s no mention, however, of the water works in the documentation of the sales contract and DPP boss Petr Witowski says an out of court solution now looks possible. The infrastructure was built in apparent secrecy in 1980’s after workers building the B-line metro hit an unexpected water source.
