AFI Europe Romania has decided to scrap the shopping center component of its AFI City project in Bucharest’s Bucurestii Noi area. Original plans called for a 45,000 sqm to 50,000 sqm shopping center, which would have included a hypermarket, a DIY shop and other commercial sections. “We have reviewed the plan, and we are now relying on the residential building with blocks of flats, shops and services, the park, the kindergarten and everything that needs to be built in a neighborhood,” said Doron Klein, CEO of AFI Europe Romania.
