The GDP per capita of the Bratislava region ranks 8th of 281 regions in the EU 28 group of nations, according to new data from Eurostat. Inner London ranked first, and Bratislava was also placed lower than regions such as Hamburg, Brussels and Luxembourg. But it also fell behind Prague in this year’s rankings, which grabbed the 7th spot. Eurostat found that the GDP per capita figures ranged from just 31 percent of the EU average up to 626 percent of it. No Slovak (or Czech) regions fell as low as the bottom 20 rankings. These were populated primarily by Hungarian, Polish, Romanian and Bulgarian regions. The least productive per capita was the Podkarpaskie region in Poland.
