Hungarian strike hits Bratislava VW plant

29 January 2019

The Tuesday morning shift in VW’s Bratislava factory has been cancelled as a result of an ongoing strike in an engine production facility in Gyor, Hungary. Workers there are demanding an 18 percent pay hike, with union leaders calling on the top management of Audi to take part in the discussions. Along with VW SUV engines, the Gyor plant produces engines for the Audi A3, A4, A5 and Q2. Production of those cars has halted in the company’s primary plant in Ingolstadt. It’s unclear so far if this morning’s work stoppage in Bratislava will continue.
