BMW gets CZK 528m for testing center construction

21 November 2018

The Czech government has approved investment incentives worth CZK 528 million for the construction of a testing center by BMW Group Mobility Development in Sokolovska in the Karlove Vary region. The facility would include more than 100 km of roads and would be used to develop and test BMW’s new range of smart cars. This includes CZK 201.8m in corporate income tax relief and a subsidy for the acquisition of property worth CZK 255m. The remainder will go to re-qualification and training and for the creation of new jobs. BMW is hoping to secure a construction permit for the project by the end of 2019. The years, dirt from an open pit mine for brown coal was dumped at the site by the Sokolovska coal mine, which is now re-cultivating the area.
