SCG Hospitality bought the Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The price of the deal was not disclosed. Built in 1925, the sale includes the 362-room property, an adjacent 72-slip marina, 60,000 sq ft of meeting space along with a 18-hole golf course. Over the past few years, the resort has undergone a $53m renovation that included an overhaul of guest rooms, the addition of Paul’s Landing, the Vinoy’s first restaurant accessible from the street, and an extensive makeover of the pool, ballroom and golf club on nearby Snell Isle. The seller, RLJ Lodging Trust, acquired the Vinoy last August as part of its $1bn takeover of a Maryland company. The property will continue to be managed under a long-term agreement with Marriott.
