18 July 2018

The Finnish economy grew by 2.8 percent in 2017, according to Statistics Finland, a 0.2 percent pace faster than the company predicted in March. The increase was driven mainly by growth in the construction, energy, mining, accommodations sectors as well as in food, and administration. However, more rapid investment also had an effect as private investments rose 4.6 percent in 2017, while public investment jumped 1.8 percent following greater procurement of machinery and equipment in the construction sector. The improving economy also drove wage growth of 2.2 percent and 0.9 percent increase in social benefits.
