Czech unions sell Prague 3 HQ

16 July 2018

The Czech unions association has completed a tender for its headquarters building in Prague 3 and chosen a winner. For now the name of the new owner has not been published, but it’s believed that the building sold for around CZK 1bn. The association made it a condition of the sale that it would get two years to find a new headquarters building. The unions only occupy around 20 percent of the 12,000 sqm office space in the building and they revealed that the costs associated with owning the building, which is a protected monument, were substantial. The highrise building was built between 1932 and 1934. The sale included three connected buildings, the land beneath them and two other plots of land that form a park in front of the Zizkov football stadium. The decision to dispose of the building was taken during 2017.
