A new study by CeMap warns that the number of apartments available in the Czech Republic fell 13 percent in May compared to May 2017. At the same time the total offering from real estate agencies fell by one-third. In Prague the number of units on offer fell by a full 31.4 percent, while rising in just two regions, including Olomouc where 34 percent flats are on offer compared to a year ago. The chief executive of CeMap Ondřej Hon told the daily Lidove noviny says the figures are due both to reduced supply, thanks to planning difficulties, and to rising demand for private housing. The biggest demand for flats nationwide are for flats of less than 101 sqm. The number of flats of between 51 and 75 sqm fell by 15 percent, while the number of flats offering between 76 and 100 sqm is down 14.8 percent. The supply of units offering less than 50 sqm fell just 3.5 percnet.
