Progress is finally being made on plans to build Hradec Kralove’s southern link road. The highway is widely believed to be the answer to the overburdened Prážská třída road, but its construction is still expected to take another 11 years to complete. The Czech Highway Authority recently submitted documentation for the road’s EIA approval, according to the zdopravy.cz server, which reminds readers that the road was included in the city’s master plan 18 years ago. Construction isn’t expected to begin for another two years. “The road’s importance won’t just lie in directing transit traffic away from the center of the city, but the link road will serve as a service road for a rapidly developing area of the city,” according to deputy mayor Jindřich Vedlich. The link road will connect the D11 motorway with highway 37 which runs between Hradec Kralove and Pardubice.
