There are renewed fears about the fate of 1,500 people employed by Samsung in its Galanta factory, where it produces flat televisions. The news server Aktuality.sk writes that speculation has been growing in recent months both within the workforce at Samsung that its management may have decided to close the factory. Roughly a month ago, six production lines were allegedly shipped by truck to Hungary with no explanation except that orders had fallen. In addition, the Galanta factory has stopped orders with some of its traditional suppliers. At the beginning of the year, the company closed its factory in Voderady, claiming it would improve the competitiveness of its Slovak operations.
