Ground has been broken on the New Riga Theater. The project which is set to cost €29 million will see the theater more than double in size, from 400 seats to 825. The building which was designed by architect Zaiga Gaile will contain 3 separate performance stages. The theater which will be built by RERE Būve 1 is due for completion in approximately 2 years. In the interim period the theater will be housed at the Tobacco Factory on Miera iela in Rīga. From the 1st of August it will be possible to take a virtual tour of the building in the IT Demo Center of the National Library.
