Developers are looking beyond green standards in an effort to keep up with Romania’s competitive office market. The workplace has become an extremely important employee retention tool, according to Stefan Tudos, vice president of Genesis Property. “We are trying to offer more facilities to the park offices. I recently opened an outdoor pool at West Gate to improve the experience of the employees working here,” Tudos said at CEDER. In addition to a pool, the scheme also features a running and rollerblading track, a €1.5m investment. Ovidiu Sandor, CEO of Mulberry Development, added that recruiting and retaining employees is one of the driving forces behind the evolution of the office sector. “When fighting for human resources beyond salary, companies compete in a more refined way, and the work environment is extremely important. Tenants are more aware of the value they get from the right building to recruit and retain the right people,” Sandor said.
Raluca Stanislav, business development manager at Skanska Romania, said in order to keep pace with the market, wellness components or innovative solutions must now be considered. “For the Campus 6 project, we are planning not only a runway on the roof, but also a virtual reception and other innovative applications for access to the building and the surrounding facilities,” she said.
