Work on the first section of Prague’s planned new metro line from Pisnice in Prague 4 is still years from getting underway, but city representatives are already thinking about its extension. The D line is eventually supposed to run from Pisnice to Pankrac in Prague č (the first section of work) and then on to nám. Miru in Prague 2. But there appears to be growing pressure in extending the line not only up into Žižkov but eventually further northeast to Vysočany. The city’s planning board (IPR) has been tasked with figuring out potential routes for this latest idea as soon as possible to ensure that the city has the land it needs to build new stations (currently a huge problem with the first stage of the D line’s construction).
