Completion of D48 to Poland clears EIA hurdle

2 May 2018

The Czech Republic’s road infrastructure program continues to come to life, as the government and its agencies finally begin to move on long-delayed investments and building projects. The latest is the conclusion of an EIA for an 18 km stretch of motorway leading from Bělotin on the D48 towards the Polish border. The existing four-lane highway is supposed to be changed into a standard motorway with sound barrier walls and 15 bridges to be installed. Thirty-two kilometers of the planned 70 km are currently in operation, according to E15, while another 12 are under construction and 30 are in the planning phase. Once completed, the D48 will connect through the Frýdek-Místek bypass crossing into Poland near Chotěbuz and flow into the motorway leading to Cracow.
