Two new developments are in the works for the Croatian port city of Rijeka. Port operator Lucka Uprava Rijeka and the railway company HZ Infrastruktura signed a €35.5m deal with a consortium between Kolektor-Koling and Euro-Asfalt to develop a multimodal platform and a connection with the Adriatic Gate container terminal. Construction is set to start in June, with completion planned for 2020. The project will improve the Susak Brajdica railway line. The tracks will be upgraded and the Susak tunnel will be expanded. The port’s IT infrastructure will also undergo a €310,000 renovation, while Rijeka’s central train station will be reconstructed, too. The EU will cover 85 percent of the total costs.
