Zayo buys data center in Virginia

11 April 2018

Zayo Group Holdings Inc. purchased a 62,000 sq ft data center in McLean, Virginia. The price of the deal was not disclosed. Zayo is planning to upgrade the critical power at the site to 3 MW and to make other enhancements. The new facility will tether directly to Zayo’s data center in Ashburn, and to Zayo’s network point of presence on M Street in Washington. The purchase marks the companies second purchase in the northern Virginia market.

ā€œNorthern Virginia is one of the most important data center markets in the world, with a diverse base of service providers, enterprises and government agencies all contributing to strong demand,ā€ said TJ Karklins, Zayo’s senior vice president. ā€œThe acquisition, which includes tenants, data center systems, and long-term leases, was driven by strong demand in the Washington area for low-latency colocation, interconnection and access to fiber infrastructure.ā€
