Prague airport could handle 20 million passengers by 2025

3 April 2018

Having handled 15.4 million passengers in 2017, Prague’s international airport is planning growth of around 10 percent, to bring it close to 17 million in 2018. Its director Václav Řehoř says that the statistics for the first two months of the year are encouraging as they indicate growth of 12 percent to 1.87 million. By 2025, airport management expects to cross the 20 million mark. “Air travel is rising around the world and Prague is profiting from it just as much as other airports of similar sizes,” says Petr Kováč, director of the consulting company C Corportate Finance, according to Hospodářské noviny. He says that record numbers of tourists visiting the Czech Republic are boosting the airport’s numbers, but that Vienna’s completion of a third runway will increase its capacity considerably. A new connection to Philadelphia will be added by ČSA in May.
