ArcelorMittal investing $47m in Bosnia steel plant

28 March 2018

ArcelorMittal will invest $47m this year to overhaul a blast furnace at its steel plant in Zenica, central Bosnia. The upgrade, the plant’s biggest overhaul since 1989, is expected to extend the furnace’s lifespan by 15 to 20 years and improve the site’s environmental standards. The steelmaker employs 2,200 people at its Zenica plant and is the biggest Bosnian exporter. Completion is scheduled for the end of June. ArcelorMittal produced 756,000 tons of liquid steel in 2017.
