Cosmic business incubator opens in Brno

9 March 2018

On the 40th anniversary of the flight of the first Czech astronaut Vladimir Remek into space, the second Czech ‘cosmic’ business incubator was opened in the city of Brno. The opening event held yesterday was attended by representatives of the European Space Agency, the Minister of Transport and the governor of South Moravia, along with Remek himself. The incubator is located within the South Moravian Innovation Center. The Czech investment agency CzechInvest has contributed €300,000 to the operations of the incubator, with the same amount being contributed by ESA.

The goal is to support up to nine progressive start-up companies that are developing Earth-bound applications for space-inspired technologies. The first start-ups could begin in the new incubator in June. Along with €50,000 in support and space within the South Moravian Innovation Center, the companies will be able to take advantage of its consulting services, marketing support, assistance in searching for investors and the rare opportunity to share know-how with the European Space Agency.
