Along with the new D line, Prague is also considering whether to extend the C line, which currently ends in Letňany, to Čakovice. The new 3.5 km section would include three new stations and would carry a price tag of CZK 16bn, according to a study completed by Metroprojekt, the company that traditionally wins all of the design orders for Prague’s metro system. “This is not about devaluing the importance of the construction of the D line, that takes priority, but to begin design preparations,” said Prague’s deputy mayor Petr Dolínek. “It’s an important solution for the development of Letňany and Čakovice that would improve traffic.” The C line is currently 22 km long, transporting passengers from Haje to Letňany in 36 minutes.
