Prague 8 fears CPI’s plans for four highrises

15 February 2018

The daily newspaper Metro claims to be receiving letters complaining about the plans by CPI to build four highrise towers in the Ďablice housing estate in Prague 8 on the northern edge of Prague. Metro turned to deputy mayor Petra Kolinska for the city’s view of the plans. She said local residents have nothing to fear, because a planning study is being conducted that will set down the rules for how the area will be developed. “The city will use all possibilities to protect the above-average urban quality of the housing estate and to improve the quality of public space,” she said. Metro reports that CPI planned the buildings for plots currently occupied by low buildings intended for shops and services. Kolinska says the city is willing to talk about buying the plots. CPI’s spokesman Jan Burian says it knows about the planning study that’s being prepared and claims to have good relations with Prague 8.
