Modular hotel to be built on top of Berlin shopping center

7 February 2018

MQ Real Estate is set to build the world’s first modular hotel on top of a shopping center in Berlin. The hotel will be added to the roof the city’s Ring-Center 2 and will feature 151 rooms. Based on the SKYPARK concept, the hotel will be made out of wooden modular units, which were prefabricated in a factory in Germany to meet sustainable, energy-efficient German KfW 55 standards. The hotel will be operated by NOVUM Hospitality under its new “niu” brand. The project’s other partners include ECE and Deutsche Asset Management.
