There’s been remarkably little drama surrounding the firing of Karel Kučera as director of CzechInvest by the Minister of Industry. Tomáš Huner said he removed Kučera from his position following the circulation of a petition signed by more than half of the staff at CzechInvest, which markets the Czech Republic to foreign investors. Kučera, who had been at CzechInvest since 2014, said he accepted the decision, adding that it had been carried out correctly. Kučera angered a substantial portion of his staff by removing a veteran of the agency from a management position with the intention of keeping him on in a specialist function. Minister Huner said a tender will be held soon to choose a new director.
