FREO Group and RFR Holding held a topping-out ceremony for East Side Mall in Berlin. Underway in the city’s Friedrichshain district next to the Mercedes-Benz Arena, the shopping center will offer 24,800 sqm of space in 120 retail units as well as a 6,200 sqm F&B component. The occupancy rate is already at 60 percent. FREO Group acquired the plot from Anschutz Entertainment Group in 2015. RFR Holding acquired East Side Mall in a forward deal earlier this year. Tenants include Food-Court, Kyoto Running Sushi, Kenny’s, Rewe-Markt and dm-Drogeriemarkt. The project was designed by UNStudio Amsterdam and Aukett + Heese.
