The Czech Republic won’t have to pay CZK 0.5bn in damages and lost profit to three German solar investors and JSW Solar which took the state to court after it imposed 26-percent solar tax in 2010, writes the server idnes.cz, quoting the Finance Ministry spokesman Michal Žurovec. The ministry expects the same result in six additional pending lawsuits with other solar investors, which are demanding a total of CZK 3.5bn from the state. The tax was imposed on solar-power stations that started operating in 2009-10 in reaction to a boom of new solar-power station openings that was triggered by an advantageous purchase tariff on solar energy. The arbitration court ruled that the guaranteed returns on solar investment have been preserved and the accusations are unfounded.
