CEDEM 2017 Round-up: Jiří Suremka (ComplexRE)

3 October 2017

CEDEM 2017, the annual key property conference in the Czech Republic, was held on 14th September 2017 at Prague Marriott Hotel, Prague 1. Delegates of the 18th Commercial Property & Investment Summit had a unique opportunity for a special format of discussions in six moderated panels. The gathering, which was followed up with the CEDEM Closing Mixer at Kolkovna Savarin Restaurant, offered a powerful networking and marketing opportunity.

Jiří Suremka, a partner at ComplexRE, took part in the first discussion of the day, which explored the impact of the growing labor shortages on the current industrial boom. He said that the difficulties faced by an increasing number of would-be employers is becoming a deal breaker for some investors.

“These companies came to the Czech Republic because they thought it would be less expensive to produce goods here. Everything has changed quite quickly and now we’re also feeling the impact of the stronger crown. They used to choose cities that were near an airport, but then there came a breaking point because they couldn’t find employees any more. So now, we’re looking for opportunities in other countries, even in Serbia, which was unfairly pushed to the edge of the European Union. The infrastructure there has been in place for years.”
