Prague’s taxi drivers have followed through on their threat to create a partial blockade of the city’s airport in an escalation of their conflict with the ride hailing service Uber. Two weeks ago, there were physical confrontations with tax drivers at the airport as they stepped up their protests over the amount of business the freelance drivers are having on their business. On Monday, as planned, they assembled in a growing mass to create a slow moving block of taxis heading towards the airport from the busy Evropska street. First reports put the number of taxis that had come to be in the tens, but leaders of the group claimed that hundreds could eventually join the protest. Travelers are likely to experience significant delays arriving or leaving the airport.
